See Through the Symptoms
EGFR Positive UK, ALK Positive UK and the Ruth Strauss Foundation jointly developed the See Through the Symptoms campaign urging GPs and other primary health care professionals to act on lung cancer symptoms regardless of a person's age or smoking history.
Lung cancer in never-smokers is the eighth most common cause of cancer-related deaths in the UK with more deaths each year from never-smoking lung cancer than from ovarian cancer, cervical cancer or leukaemia.
The campaign features nine patients who were photographed by the celebrated photographer Rankin, including four from our EGFR Positive Support Group. Eight of the patients are never-smokers and the ninth is an occasional social smoker. All were diagnosed with advanced disease. Visit the campaign website HERE.
All You Need is Lungs
In November 2023 we launched our All You Need is Lungs campaign urging people to visit their GP if they notice unusual, persistent symptoms, regardless of their age or smoking history.
This campaign features 24 people - all non-smokers who are living with lung cancer. They donβt fit one profile and had a range of symptoms, including many non-respiratory.
This is a joint initiative with ALK Positive UK and the Ruth Strauss Foundation.
Raising awareness
The See Through the Symptoms campaign has the support of the British Lung Foundation, Macmillan Cancer Support, the British Thoracic Oncology Group, the Primary Care Respiratory Trust and many other partners in the lung cancer community.
Early diagnosis saves lives; raising awareness that anyone can get lung cancer is key to improving outcomes for all lung cancer patients.
